A look at King David

A.
David’s Accomplishments:
                * David anointed King over the house of Judah.
                * David bears sons
                * David appointed King over Israel
                * David takes the stronghold of Zion (City of David)
                *David takes more wives and concubines and has many more children.
                * David conquers the Philistines.
                *David takes the ark of the covenant.
                *David’s throne to be established forever.
                *David defeats Moab, and slays Syrians, and many other nations.
                *David reins over all of Israel.
                *David gives land of Saul to Saul’s grandson.
                *David and Israel defeat Ammonites and Syrians.

In 2 Samuel 7, David wants to build a temple to the Lord, but is told through the prophet Nathan that he is not to do so.  In 1 Chronicles 22:7 -8, it explains that the reason for this was most likely due to the fact that David has shed too much blood and seen too much bloodshed to be able to build this sacred house of the Lord.

                If I were given a similar prophecy to the one given in 2 Samuel 7:12-17 I think I would feel a great relief.  I would also think it would bring peace of mind to know that my seed should be established forever.
                2 Samuel 7:16 is a Messianic prophesy because David was also a name used to refer to Christ.  This verse tells of the Saviors seat being established on earth.
                David responds by saying that the Lord already knows his thoughts, and then offers great Thanksgiving unto the Lord and shouts of praise.
